Making Your Own Healthy School Lunch

Let’s face it – school lunches can get boring. Why not make your own lunches with food that’s good for you and tastes great, too? You can use some of your favorite healthy foods – just put them together in different ways. And why not try some new foods to mix things up? Check out these easy ideas to make school lunchtime a blast.

  • Pita pockets. You can fill them with turkey, ham, cut-up veggies – or even peanut butter and jelly.
  • Pinwheels. Take a whole wheat tortilla, and top it with whatever you like – maybe turkey, chicken salad, or peanut butter. Next, roll it up tightly, and get an adult to cut it into bite-sized pieces.
  • Cool sides. Pack small, pre-packaged containers of diced fruit in light syrup. Or fill plastic baggies with baby carrots.
  • Sweet treat. Toss in a small piece of dark chocolate. Yum!
